Absolutely abysmal, stay far away from this facility with archaic attitudes, crappy care & insanely packed emergency ward. And if you've had a vaccine reaction, never come here.We were ignored for over 2 hours after being yelled at by some rabid nurse behind the glass who hadn't even examined my family member, who insisted a vaccine reaction was 'impossible'. Last time I checked, side effects & allergic reactions to pharmaceuticals are extremely common. Apparently the nurses here are completely unaware of this fact After our pleasant experience with Nurse Ratchet, we left & I drove my family member an hour away to St Paul's, where they were seen in under 20 minutes & were treated respectfully.Avoid Surrey Memorial like the plague if you're seriously ill.
Great hospital.Good staff. Good service. It can be a busy place but they do a great job of getting every one seem.
I had very positive experience here. I damaged my finger late at work and all the clinics were closed. I came to this closest hospital to emergency section. I waited a bit but not too long. Doctor Brian stitched my wound very nicely. The place was busy and they said sometimes it's much busier but the stuff is trying their best as I saw.
Completely disgusted in our experience at this hospital today. My sister was brought in under the mental health act section 28. The police felt she was bad enough to need medical attention. She can hardly walk, is skin and bones and covered in sores. After waiting for hours with no information or updates she was released with a methadone prescription and we were told to get her into government housing. After leaving the hospital we went to the housing place and within 30 seconds someone was offering her drugs. She had taken methadone before we left the hospital. So I say thank you to the psychiatric unit and psychiatrist for abandoning her. Won't take the time to speak to the family and hear what we see every day,as we come out to the streets to try and help her everyday and clearly see a severe mental health issue. This is unacceptable feels like they just don't want the paperwork, would they treat it in the same way if it was one of their family members? Just because she is over 19 we have no say in anything, they didn't even treat her feet, which were completely infected, just sent her on her way. Just because she never said she is going to kill herself, but if you look at her anyone can see SHE IS KILLING HERSELF!
My dad is in his last stages of Lung Cancer and its been a real struggle for him to do things on his own. My dad was kept in a room for a night; transfered to another room and the staff their were unprofessional and rude. Especially the LPN named Sindy. I asked her if she could help my dad in bed; it was an emergency and she walked past me and told me to go find someone else when NO ONE was around. The office area was empty because the nurses were huddled into one corner chatting. Additionally, when they were transferring my dad from his stretcher to his actual bed, they didnt make sure the bed was balanced and the bed locked up and hit the floor WHILE my dad was on it. As he was transferred to his new bed, they didnt even give him a call button and as a person with LUNG CANCER, talking was a struggle because no noise came out. Overall Im very disappointed in SMH staff and their hospitality towards patients. Not only my father was mistreated but other patients were as well. Not professional to make fun of patients when theyre sleeping.
