DO NOT ever take your pet here if you care about them. This clinic is just out to get your money and does not care about your pet at all. On top of that, the veterinarians here dont seem to be very knowledgeable about animal care which is extremely frustrating and scary. If you need after-hours pet care in Surrey and need to see a Vet, go to Mainland Animal Hospital on Fraser and 153rd.On Saturday night while my husband and I were out of town, our dog, after his walk, started acting funny and stopped walking. My parents, in a rush and panicking, took him to Surrey Animal Hospital. The vet insisted that an X-Ray was needed and then proceeded to tell my parents that he needed to immediately go on IV and stay overnight (the X-Ray showed gas in the stomach). Thats when we got a call and we told the vet to release our dog and let him go home as we have had some bad experiences in the past here as well, so we did not trust for them to keep him overnight. The only reason my parents took him there in the first place was because they couldnt find our phone list of Vets we had vetted ourselves. We figured if its gas it would pass naturally. A half an hour passed after my parents took our dog home and he was still acting abnormal and was having difficulty breathing. At this point, they found out that Mainland Animal Hospital was a 24hr hospital and rushed him over there. The vet there assessed him and realized that his symptoms resembled that of a dog that had something stuck in his throat (no X-ray needed, just the opinion of a good knowledgeable vet). Sure enough, when he opened his mouth, there was a 2-inch piece of stick stuck in his throat! Using tweezers, the vet managed to take it out and immediately my parents said our dog looked better and started to breathe normally. I am completely astonished that Surrey Animal Hospital missed the fact that he had a stick stuck in his throat! What was the point of doing the X-Ray before doing a basic routine check to rule out choking? Had we left our dog in their care overnight what would have happened in the morning? A stick lodged in his throat would not have come out by itself!Their answer to every single instance of a dog being brought in for care seems to be that the pet needs an IV and overnight stay (this has happened to us before and unfortunately not knowing any better we have left him there). The only conclusion that I can think of is that the overnight stay and IV is what they are able to charge an arm and a leg for so thats always what they want you to do. The fact that they could miss something as obvious (to the other vet) as something being lodged in the dogs throat is terrifying.This clinic should not even be allowed to operate as they only care about their bottom line and not the health of the precious animals brought into their clinic. I agree their charges are very reasonable but that should not come before your pets health and safety.
Excellent pricing compared to other vets. They are extremely knowledgeable and caring. I have taken several of my pets here over the years...from dogs, cats, bunnies to rats. Ive never had to wait to book an appointment and the 24 hour service is amazing.
I love Dr Peter and his staff. I have taken several of my fur babies there over the years. They were recommended to me. They have always been thorough with the care of my babies. They go over and above to accommodate my work schedule for visitation when hospitalized. My babies have never been hospitalized unnecessarily. I also have a rescue I currently also take there. Their prices are reasonable. I have also been witness to them reimbursing people if they paid to much, clipping nails for free, or helping people get to specialty vet hospitals with compassion and honesty. All that said they take care of me really well when my little fella has been in there to stay. Which has been 3 different times for lengthy stays and they have never charged me for all the nights he has had to stay, usually only 4/5 of 7 and my guy has stayed 10 before. They understand my desire to visit daily and still be with my little guy. Everyone seems to understand that he is family to us. Staff is amazing! Took my dog in for a dental cleaning and prices were very reasonable! Drs were very knowledgeable and good with the animals. Very happy with the service!
I am editing an old review based on our recent experience with Dr. Peter. There have been some changes at the clinic with the staff and the vet we used to see is no longer there for obvious reasons. Dr. Peter amputated our dog's leg due to cancer. He took the time to speak to us, answer our questions and assure us that our dog would be taken care of. We actually called 2 other vet clinics we have been to in the past who gave us great recommendations on Dr. Peter. We were told that he was the best in his field and that he has decades of experience. During the night of the surgery I called many times for updates. The staff were kind, and informative. Thank you to Dr. Peter and all the staff that helped Titan!
