Bed bugs! Everybody's worst nightmare. I woke up at 1:30 am to a single bed bug and with furthermore inspecting to my bed I quickly found 5 others...went down to lobby because i obviously could not sleep knowing i could be at risk for blood born virus and bringing these bugs home. And the man at the desk told my husband he could only refund us the $50 deposit.. out $200 and have bed bug bites..not to mention this hotel is trashed. I'd like to add there was also such a rat problem in there parking lot my husband accidentally kicked one walking in the door..
The rooms are spacious, clean and well equipped. A little maintenance required here and there due to building wear and tear, otherwise all is in excellent shape.
Update: I left them the same review on their Facebook page and it seems like they have a pattern on how to deal with people who want refunds: they tell them that the manager isn't in the office until Monday. When you call them back on Monday they will tell you that he's not in until Tuesday. You call on Tuesday and they will say that he's not there until Monday. Whatever you do, don't stay at the Canadian Inn. We had a very poor experience with Canadian Inn. It is very dirty with mold growing in the shower, the fan in the bathroom was half off making me worry that there is a camera in it, and it stinks sooo badly. I can't describe what it smells like but me and my family can agree that it has an underlying smell of piss throughout the building. I had left the sliding balcony door open to ventilate my room as I went out to eat, and when I came back the door was closed! I called the front desk to say that I think that someone was in my room and he immediately answered "that's impossible, no one has been to your floor, I've been watching on our security camera." And my response was "but you don't know which room I'm in!" I ended up hanging up on him because he kept saying that it was impossible that anyone was in my room without even asking why I think someone was in my room. Then he calls me an hour later to say that they checked the cameras and that no one was in my room. After that call I went to put the bolt in the door but the bolt doesn't fit in the hole and so the door can't lock. The motel is in a very poor area and it looks and feels cheap. I've stayed at other motels and hostels that are much nicer, better kept, and better smelling. You're better off sleeping in your car.
This place is horrible!! My sister and I were starting a road trip to Alberta-this was our second stop along the way. We got to the room after paying nearly $200 to find the lock broken on the sliding door (consequently wouldn't close), ripped bedside lamp shades, bathroom door that wouldn't close tight and a fridge that leaked puddles all over the floor. My sister and I actually felt unsafe here and would never recommend this place to anyone! I suppose one good thing is we did not get bedbugs!
!bed bugs! Within the first half hour of laying down we had found over a dozen bed bugs here.the mattress and box spring are full of burn holes and massive rips.only the heater water tap worked for the kitchen.no freezer door on fridge and when u open it it smashes into floor.balcony was collapsing on one side.our shampoo container was half used already.i kicked a giant rat on my way to my room and doors in between rooms aren't locked.not one drawer of the dressers was in properly. And also while there someone chipped my new car window trying to break in.you can find better beds for free on kijiji.the most disgusting horrendous pig stye I have ever seen and I'm not picky.this place should be shut down immediately and staff doesn't help whatsoever,I'm from out of town and they said do wait for the manager on Monday is my only option.STAY AWAY IF AT ALL POSSIBLE.we slept in our car and it was much nicer even though I'm 6'5
