after paying a hefty fee for the flower vase attached to the plaque only to have it stolen before my Dad's 1st death anniversary. The management wont replace it unless we pay another 150-300 canadian. Every neighboring plaque where my dad's urn is resting had the vase stole since it is made of metal. This cemetery does not have good security system and wont even reimburse or allow anyone to install a private vase. no compassion at all! $$ off the dead.
Our whole family was very impressed and comforted by the professionalism, warmth, and kindness of both Ken Stratton: Family Services Director/Divisional Manager in the cemetery office; and Natasha Berry: funeral director from the funeral home office... along with the other staff at Valley View that helped our family during the loss of our grandparents and now recently the painful loss of our father when his time came. Staff facilitated proceedings in a tasteful and respectful manner. Questions that my siblings & I had after we buried our beloved father regarding the future estate planning of our still living family members' estate planning processes and options: Ken did not make the process feel morbid - or depressing, but framed it as a gift to ease burden on our children and to save on future costs by purchasing and making payments at today's dollars. So, for way in the future when the natural time comes tens of thousands of dollars will be saved for our own children as we can lock in at current day rates that are inevitably more affordable than 50-70 years from now. The inquiries that we gave Ken were answered right away & any policy / contract ...if we chose one, are ensured that future proceedings are the way we want it in reasonably affordable way with estate planning payment options that were not pushed or "sold to us" but respectful of our individual wishes (if we so chose to purchase an estate plan and plot) and are fully refundable if not used in the future **and our estate plans are applicable to us no matter where we go in the world in our lifetime with the worldwide transport option one time fee in our contract that protects our family from future added burden-- as the insurance also covers them transporting your remains and a flight ticket for one family member/friend that was with you back from anywhere in the world free of charge in the event of your death (if on vacation for example). It was also a relief that they helped us through the legal paperwork process when our dad died and offered FREE professional counselling via another staff member who is their on staff counsellor to any family members that need it. Again thank you Ken and Natasha for answering all our questions and making the grieving process less painful and stressful for the whole Zentner family.
Best landscaped cemetery in BC .Well balanced scenery through out whole year .
Im off to Valley View this afternoon to discuss transferring my parents cemetery rights from Burlington Memorial to Valley View I am a bit concerned as Valley View has informed me that they cant honour the present day value of my parents niche in Burlington to a Memorial Stone in Valley View (also at present day value) as they are not the identical type of cremation interment (the Memorial Stone is actually a lower value option). My parents were sold on Arbor Memorial as it is the largest Funeral Services in Canada and that their cemetery rights were transferable at no time were they every informed that it was conditional and the contract is ambiguous and does not specify that either. I am hoping this is a miscommunication and that Valley View will honour the contract I will keep you posted!
Our family had to plan a cremation for a loved one; the first time we've gone through this experience. We met initially with Sanjeev and Mark, who work on different areas of planning. While I'm sure business is healthy at Valley View, we felt that we had the offices to ourselves and that we had everyone's full and complete attention, yet never rushed. We decided to only have a cremation and to not bury my Dad there. Although all of VV's services were fully explained, which was appreciated, we did not feel pressured to purchase more services than we'd decided upon. Even the visit to view Dad one last time prior to cremation was very caring as I did not feel rushed. In addition to help with the cremation Vally View also offers detailed support to navigate the legal steps necessary after someone dies, and explained things to us over and over very patiently. Overall we found Valley View and their staff to be really thoughtful and professional.
